How do I go about building an led light module? Something like a cop’s emergency light?

December 14th, 2008
Bull asked:

I’m wanting to build some led lights for my truck. It requires figuring up what resistors I need and I don’t know how to do that. I’m not stupid but I’m not a electronic whizard though either. I need someone to explain it to me or suggest another route of learning.

How do I make a LED light pulse?

November 2nd, 2008
bjsterilite asked:

I want to setup a few LED lights to pulse (dim down but not turn off and then back up to full brightness). I’m not very electronics savvy so I’m looking for something simple. I’ve seen some people use PIC and it might seem difficult but if your willing to explain it to me then that’s fine.
I’m starting from scratch. You have to be more specific like what parts to use and how to construct it.

How to set up basic knob/button operated LED light?

November 1st, 2008
Keith asked:

I am building a model of a hockey rink. I want to rig up a very simple knob operated red LED light as the goal light. I would like to have a battery hooked up all the time and be able to use the knob to flick the light on/off. If it makes a difference, the LED light will be red. I also hope to have the wire from the LED light to the knob be about 7 feet.

Through research so far it seems as simple as connecting(with solder and wire) the battery piece to the knob to the resister and finally to the light.

Any advice or if someone could point me to other resources would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Jeanette

How do I wire up a LED light?

September 22nd, 2008
yukidomari asked:

I’m talking about the kind you might use for hobbies, where you also have to buy a resistor, a switch, battery connector, wires, and circuit board. I’ve never wired any electrical components before, and I’m trying to wire up some LEDs for a hobby model. The components listed above are what the manual suggests, but the manual is also made for people who have worked with electrical components before. Can anyone point me in the direction of a detailed step by step guide? I’ve tried to look up different guides, but many of them just get into the technical aspects of how LEDs work and just that the positive connectors need to line up etc. And also, does anyone where where I can buy these things above? I’ve found the LED lights I need but nothing else. Do stores regularly carry these things?
Also, I need to be able to switch it on and off easily. (It is being used at light-up eyes on model - and the wiring and circuit boards and what not is to be stored in a compartment within the model).

How do I wire something like a timer to an LED light?

June 10th, 2008
Kevin E asked:

I want to learn how to wire things to other things.

I want to be able to wire a timer, and when it goes off, it turns on the LED light. How do I do that? I’ve Googled, searched for questions here, but no results. I’m looking for a best answer :P
